buildingThe discovery of gold in Gympie by James Nash in 1867 was the economic salvation of Queensland that was, at that time, on the verge of bankruptcy. The Phoenix Hotel was built some 20 years later, so named after the North Phoenix, Number 2 Mine and to this day there are 3 tunnels under the hotel, the closest is located 100 metres from the surface, the point of access being a shaft on the adjacent property in Mt Pleasant Rd.

Today, the Phoenix Hotel is owned and operated b friendly long-term Gympie residents; Greg & Brenda Langdon who, with their staff, strive to provide quality food and drinks at affordable prices and to make your visit an enjoyable experience.
